It includes cover songs, B-side covers, and The $5.98 E.P.: Garage Days Re-Revisited, which had gone out of print since its original release in 1987. The title is a combination of Garage Days Revisited and their song "Damage, Inc.", from Master of Puppets, and the album's graphical cover draws heavily from the 1987 EP. The album features songs by artists that have influenced Metallica, including many bands from the new wave of British heavy metal movement, hardcore punk bands and popular songs.

Written by the group's lead guitarist, George Harrison, with some lyrical assistance from John Lennon, it protests against the higher level of progressive tax imposed in the United Kingdom, which saw the Beatles paying over 90 per cent of their earnings to the Treasury. It was the group's first topical song and the first political statement they had made in their music.

This is a song by the Moody Blues entitled The Story In Your Eyes from 1971. This was in the Billboard Top 20. This was the single version without the fade out from the previous song called Procession. This original track was fairly muddy sounding as were most recordings released on London Records vinyl. The original track was re-eq'ed for better listening experience.

"Disco Inferno" is a song by American disco band the Trammps from their 1976 fourth studio album of the same name. With two other cuts by the group, it reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in early 1977, but had limited mainstream success until 1978, after being included on the soundtrack to the 1977 film Saturday Night Fever, when a re-release hit number eleven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.[1][2]

From Wikipedia: Gregg Allman was 21 years old when the song was first recorded. Its writing dates back to late March 1969, when The Allman Brothers Band was first formed.[11] Gregg had failed to make a name for himself as a musician during a late-1960s stint in Los Angeles,[12] and was on the verge of quitting music altogether when his brother Duane Allman called and said his new band needed a vocalist. Gregg showed the band 22 songs he had written, but only "Dreams" and "It's Not My Cross to Bear" were deemed usable.[13] Gregg, the group's only songwriter at the time, was commissioned to create additional songs that would fit into the context of the new band, and in the next five days he wrote several, including "Whipping Post".

Julian Lennon wrote this in 1983 at a French chateau called the Manor de Valotte, which is how the song got its title (the word "Valotte" does not appear in the lyrics). In our interview with Julian, he told the story:

"The place where that was written, which was actually a beautiful little run-down chateau in the middle of France, which is where the label at the time decided was a good place to send their artists to work out their writing skills. I know that Thomas Dolby had been down there and a few other high-end acts at that point in time.

It was just a really tranquil, beautiful spot in the middle of nowhere, where one could get a little lonely, I guess. The song initially came from that idea of just being in this beautiful landscape and dreaming of the idea that if you found that love of your life, this is something that you'd aspire to. It's as simple as that, really."
