Sounding great to me! Appreciate your hard work on the mix with so many tracks! I don't believe the original Crowded House vocal is double tracked. I tried double tracking it myself and it didn't sound right, so it probably was reverb / delay. Glad to be a part of this. Thanks

1tricktony tudan thx1138 brijamcam Protis - Hi Guys - I've done an offline mix and uploaded, sounds wonderful to my lofi ears. If I've committed and mixing cardinal sins (too much reverb?!) let me know and I'll tweak. I'm immensely happy with the way this has turned out, you are all wonderful talents, thank you all for participating. If everyone agrees I will mark this as complete.

sounds great man. just a bit too much reverb for my taste but I am anti verb :)

@tudan : Yea, I get you. Tony's main vocal is a bit 'peaky' but it's also a great take, so I was reluctant to have him redo, also part of my ethos on here is that BH is a very 'immediate' medium and I wanted to work with what I had. But mainly I LOVE reverb - I could've seriously gone to town on this :-)

Great mix Jim! I'm with Ross when he says there's a bit too much reverb. I used to mix like that too, until I thought better of it and found that less is more.

@Protis: Thanks man - I feel a consensus building around less verb...

Nice fadeout too! I did notice though that my third track is still slightly out of sync. Maybe nudge it a bit to the right in DAW mode, and then it should sound better.

@Protis: can you nudge it in daw and I'll redo the mix offline with that change and with slightly less reverb...

@tudan : On the original the main vocal sounds treated - is it 'doubled' do you think, or something else?

    A touch of Delay mebbe?

@Jungle Jim: I think maybe it has a little delay, which may have been common during the 80s. I know that gated reverb was all the rage during that particular decade.

@Jungle Jim: I think I saved a mix a whle back with the sync corrected. Now if only I can get DAW mode to load properly... :-P

@Protis: Actually if you tell me the track number and the offset - I can just put that into the daw

@Jungle Jim: my third keyboard track is eighth from the top (Track 8) and the offset is 00:10.325

@Jungle Jim: my second keyboard track is seventh from the top (Track 7 - long organ part) and the offset is 00:10.376. I may have changed it from before, but this is the offset you should put into the offline DAW.

@Jungle Jim: Once again I agree with Ross about the mix! It's so much better now, especailly with less reverb! I found that out the hard way myself.

junglejim submitted that high vocal for the "dream" and "world" parts for your review. Please let me know if you like the high note or not. Tried to match what they do on the record. I can also double track it if needed. Thanks! Also, I added the chorus harmony for "to build a wall between us" but it was out of sync. will try again! Then on to the "hey nows". Should be able to complete today or tomorrow. thanks!

junglejim - hello again. Ok, just submitted 3 bv tracks total. 2 tracks for the "dream and world" part on the chorus. There is that high note and also a medium note in the background, so I tried to replicate that for you. (red t-shirts to make it easier! ) Then , the blue t-shirt is the "to build a wall between us" harmony on the chorus. Please feel free to let me know if these are suitable or you would like some changes. I'm totally up for suggestions. If all is good, I'll get started on the Hey Now's. Thanks friend.

@Jungle Jim: ha! thanks so much for your kind feedback. Just added 3 final tracks (in the black t's). 2 of them are "Hey Nows" and the 3rd one is a an additional "to build a wall between us" to give that part a bit more lift, plus and few subtle harmony "hey nows". Thanks again for trusting me with the invite.! So fun to sing along to such fine musicians!

junglejim hello friend. just submitted a new lead vocal track for your review. I brought the gain down quite a bit, so hopefully not peaking on your end. But if it is, just say the word and I'll happily redo. thanks for your patience.

1tricktony woot - fella - the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.. Great vocal - love it, can't wait for the backing vocals now.. Your levels are still 'strong' you could still back off a smidgen when doing the backing tracks to avoid clipping/peaking.. If you look at you track in the DAW you can see where it's maxing out.

@Jungle Jim: wow! thanks so much for your kind words! So glad it was what you were hoping for! And if you find while mixing that the lead vocal is still running a bit too hot, I'd be happy to redo it for you. Meanwhile I'll dial back the gain some more and really watch that peak meter while working on the bv's. Thanks again!
