"Different Drum" is a song written by American singer-songwriter Michael Nesmith in 1964. It was first recorded by the bluegrass band The Greenbriar Boys and included on their 1966 album Better Late than Never!. Nesmith offered it to his group the Monkees, but the producers of the Monkees TV show turned it down, though he did perform a short comic version of the song in one episode.

The song became popular in 1967 when it was recorded by the Stone Poneys who took it to No. 12 on the Cash Box Top 100, No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and No. 16 in Record World magazine. "Different Drum" had its strongest commercial performance in New Zealand, where it reached No. 5.[5] In 1972, Nesmith recorded his own version. "Different Drum" has since been covered by other artists.

5-16-26 - Reworked entire mix, fixed timing issues on certain tracks and added more sparkle.

Hi All - Thanks to Rick for adding his 12 string acoustic guitar today..it's got such a buoyant feel vs. a Six String (Rick!)..Good idea, thanks. Drums were also added today and a complete strip down on the previous mix, track by track. it's coming together..thanks everyone..more to follow with a string section..coming soon. Open to any critiques.

Interesting track with the 12 strings guitar, I didn't even know these guitars even existed ! The sound is super good, you did a super job here Rick ! But I noticed the BT was still there on the background of Rick's track...? And once again, the drums are incredible Anthony, I'm always amazed by how you manage to follow the changes from a section to another... It seems super tricky to me when I see you playing them ! This sounds super good so far to me !! :) Great team again we have here !

5-10-26 Bill and Camille thank you for your excellent additions! Once again Camille spot on with the voice inflections and timing was excellent. Great work on this track as you made it look effortless! You must truly practice especially for not knowing this song..sensational. Bill loved the maneuvers on the fret board especially at the bridge..solid sound and timing. Also enjoyed your new background and the Gibson shirt..thanks much for your adding the bass.
