Toby wrote “Don’t Let the Old Man In” in 2018 as a birthday present for Clint Eastwood, who was going to begin shooting his next movie, “The Mule” on his 88th birthday. Clint liked the song so much that he put it in the movie. Watching Toby perform the song in light of his ailment adds another meaning to it, and he sure didn’t let the old man in that night. May God bless him and his family. He played this at the 2023 Peoples Choice Country Awards- which is the BT being used.

Steve...thanks for adding the second guitar. Sounding great and took your suggestion on the mix. Turning out to be a very nice custom version collab !

On the thoughts about piano...what is interesting is that TK typically just plays this with one guitar, some strings and his great voice. I picked this version because it meant so much the night he played it, and it included his entire band. I liked the thought of bringing drums, bass, piano, slide, and a few other guitars into the mix. I like the slide and piano tracks we have. As with most of the stuff I do, like making it our own and kinda figuring out what works and mix after all the tracks are in. Lets just keep doing that !

I like that approach, Rick. “Make it our own.” Too many times on Bandhug we just copy stuff note for note, which is a challenge and a nice form of tribute, but interpretation and originality are even more of a challenge and more of a tribute. Thanks for ‘loosening the reins!’
