Clint_the_Cool_Guy here for your consideration is a track of a tiny egg maraca run through my old Ibanez FL-9 flanger. I hope you dig.
I adjusted sync and snipped negative time off the video - I think it sounds pretty tight. I saved a draft mix in DAW - basically just set the new track somewhere around 50% and it sits in the mix pretty well. It helps pump up the choo choo train chugga chugga vibe of this track.

I just found my egg shaker! It was MIA for a while. I want to try recording it and putting it through a phaser or flanger or Soul Vibe pedal to try and get that electronic steam train "chuckachuckachucka" sound that's conspicuous in the middle verses. I put the eBow guitar through a MXR Phase 100 pedal, so I'll try something else for more conic contrast.
