This is a fine Collab, really like the sound on this - it's got that haunting edge which is required. Blue-eyed soul right here, much better than Dylan's. Hey Rick that Capo is way down on the neck, never seen this before..sounds fantastic! I'm up for a Lay Lady Lay.

Hey Anthony...was originally going going for the mandolin, not satisfied, so kinda adapted to add some high end for Jon. He's got some real talent to share, so glad to contribute.

Hi Jon. I think you might have published my track before I finished syncing and trimming. Can you you just the publish button to be sure? Not a huge difference but my second utt was better.

@Bob : hey Bob sorry about that, I hit publish again, is this the correct take?

@Jon Darren: I think so. How does the sync sound to you? As far as level go, I think the drums should be way in the backseat. Feel free to adjust as you see fit.

@Bob : sound is good, sync is off in maybe a couple spots on a couple instruments now but I plan on downloading all the tracks and mixing inside my DAW once we get all the parts. I agree with you on levels, definitely a calm subdued track lol. I tried to make it travel a little bit by upping the energy for 3rd verse and chorus but yeah I hear you.

@Jon Darren: As usual, your vocals are very, very nice. And so is your timing. That can sometimes be an issue with no BT. Did you use a bt or a click track.

@Bob : hey Bob yeah I did it to a 70 bpm click I believe, i'll confirm

Jon Darren 15 Tage vor

yep 70 bpm Bob, I'm a little rusty at this, what is best practices when we do a collab like this from scratch? get drums recorded after first track and then get the rest asfter the drums are laid? I know I can hear a couple spots on my strumming that are off slightly, but then again they're live takes and we're not in Carnegie Hall over here lol

Agree that Jon has a soulful voice and style, he's an authentic artist, playing and singing the whole song in one take. It would be sad to ruin this. I think he deserves the same honesty from his collaborators. CopyCat Is it your voice that we hear on back vocals?

@YvesC: Again here, not my photo, not my voice. Just assisting with mixing, that's all.

@CopyCat : hey CopyCat, not your voice? Who's voice is it?

totally appreciate the help, I know you hopped on this after I posted on FB group about always needing BG vocals. But, and not judging or attacking with this question, are you saying this was created using something like Suno or another ai voice generator? I was sorta wondering why the first "ooh oohs" were super loud compared the the next which sit back in the mix much lower. Again no judgement but I do share YvesC feelings about authentic honesty while I dont mind digtal audio processing (auto tune etc) I am looking to do stuff here that's live and organic from humans. Hope that lands with the intention that's meant, gratitude and honesty.

@CopyCat : also, if that track is Ai, I'll also say I think that's really cool they're able make vocals like that with just a prompt, I thought they only made full songs that way, didnt' realize you could do tracks to fill in blanks like this, very interesting.

@CopyCat : also you said "again here" but I'm not seeing where you said it was not your vocals, did I miss a comment about that? Sometimes I read too fast lol

@Jon Darren: BVs stripped from original Dylan version. Pitch and tempo adjusted to fit your version. The pitch doesn't fit perfectly, unfortunately. I was just bored and thought I'd try and make it fit. Please don't feel obligated to use it.

@Jon Darren: I completely understand how you feel about keeping it real with real singers. No, I stripped the original Dylan BVs manually, not with AI. Just a bobby of mine. Just playing around. I didn't really care to record BVs with my voice, but I thought this could at least be some sort of contribution, even if it's only temporary.

@Jon Darren: I suppose I should have announced that it's not me singing. I assumed it would be obvious, sorry.

Hey SixStringRick honestly i'd love to bring in that high part you're doing after first chorus on second verse, like a way to build the track, let me know your thoughts, it's a good sound
