jondarren - Am I correct that this is NOT for the contest? I have a number of pending collabs and I am trying to prioritize

@CopyCat : Also not in the title, as required. That why I asked - just to be sure

CyberBass - Of course, now that uploads are allowed, he could probably start a new collab for the contest, and use these tracks to get it started, and then delete this collab . Worth a try.

There's a contest? What are we contesting?

@Bob : lol - The contest entries must be in by end of May, so I didn't want to leave this one to last - but I suspect it is not for the contest.

@Jon Darren, fills sent. Transcribing everything notes for notes would be too long and tedious, so I've improvised using few licks of the original. Not perfect, so if you don't like it no prob, I can redo or just put it to the bin :-)

@Michmuch: sounds good to me man! I'm always down for a little improv, doesn't have to be note-for-note, I like the personality it adds.

@Bob : I've been taking a break. Too many fires in too many pots. I'll be retiring in a couple of months and will have more time for playing music after that. Miss you guys. It's great to see my old BH mates together here rockin. I love the Stones. Hearing you guys and Jon kinda inspired me and I just wanted to reach out to give my support. .

Well, to warm up, I recorded a combined string machine + organ track.

And the piano track if you like.

love the organ+string addition, thank you so much man. Now, the piano part you played great , but it has a very synthesized piano sound, is it possible to get something a little more acoustic sounding?

also there's a rhodes part on top of it. I believe it was Mick playing piano and Billy Preston doing the rhodes. It has this really sweet effect layered though. Let me know your thoughts.

@Jon Darren: Thanks! Well I used a classic upright piano sample of my Nord Stage 4 (the Grotrian Steinweg 132 Upright), and broadened it a bit to "untune" it slightly. If you can tell me what piano originally was used in the song, then I could try to find that sound. I checked several sounds of my library and thought one of the uprights fitted best.

@Jon Darren: Yes, it's a Fender Rhodes with some phaser effect. I already tweaked a bit around and also learned the pattern/lick that he uses throughout the song-

@Nordlicht: ya I'm with you, upright would be the right feel, ok let's try it. Wasn't sure if you were doing the rhodes part, thanks brother!

@Jon Darren: Thanks! I think in the mix it will blend well. It’s not that dominant as the Rhodes and could be a bit lowered in volume. I’ll do the Rhodes probably tomorrow.

Hi guys, if you like I would be happy to add some of the keyboard stuff. You're vocals and drums tracks are awesome by the way! Only one technical problem: I'm usually recording online with "BT only" setting, so that I'm just playing along with the backing track. Unfortunately this doesn't work here as the BT isn't the first track. I don't know if tracks can be swapped.

Nordlicht - Yes, tracks can be swapped. Try it now, it should work.

@CopyCat : Oh wow, thanks! How did you do this? In DAW mode?

   2
CopyCat
CopyCat 29 days ago

@Nordlicht: On the main Studio page, if you click on the "wrench" icon, and then choose "Edit Info", there you can check the "BT" box to make that track a BT. It was set on "User" before, that's why the "BT Only" selection didn't work for you. Now it is a BT, so now it works.
