"Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" is a song written by American folk rock singer Jim Croce. Released as part of his 1973 album Life and Times, the song was a Number One pop hit for him, spending two weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in July 1973. Billboard ranked it as the No. 2 song for 1973.

Croce was nominated for two 1973 Grammy awards in the Pop Male Vocalist and Record of the Year categories for "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown".[3] It was his last number-one single before his death on September 20 of that year.

@thx1138 tell me about your bass rig. You're getting a terrific crisp-thumpy tone that makes me think of a Rickenbacker.

Surferbeto - Hey thanks for asking; I have a Ricky but didn't use it on this one. The guitar is a Squire modified with P-bass pickups. I run through a Sansamp DI then into an Ampeg Micro VR head, and finally I use a compressor plugin in Reaper, before sending the signal to "Hug". I also play with a pick which affects the sound too.

@CybRGibson: Wow. I'm often surprised at how elaborate folks' rigs are. The compression definitely helps make that tone. Thanks for talking me through that. And sorry I.got.confuswd about who played what. .

@Surferbeto: No worries Surfer. I'm glad you liked the tone enough to inquire!

@Surferbeto: I only have the head - looking for the cabinet which I agree is pretty awesome looking and for the best volume they recommend two cabinets! Maybe some day...

OK Chief, a new mix submitted for your consideration. Boy, equalizing (boosting) taye6's rock steady drum track added a lot of value. Thanks man!
