This track is off their very fine Hard Rock (not metal) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath LP from 1973.
(The video background on the drum track is from our personal collection. Filmed on Staten Island at the Farm Colony and also the historic Bayley Seton Hospital basement)

Guys, I think I found the culprit.
When I redid the entire mix — this time paying attention to possible phasing in the doubles — I finally managed to hear the excess high frequencies in my DAW, and from there it became much easier to figure out what was going on. I realized the main vocal had been recorded with two different mics (one dynamic and one condenser), each capturing a different side of the stereo. So the biggest chance of phasing was actually right there.
On top of that, when I soloed the condenser track, it sounded really weird, with a ton of harsh high frequencies.
So I decided to keep only the dynamic mic and turn the vocal into mono.
I also fixed the clipping issue.
Let me know if this solved the problem — I’m satisfied with it now. Thanks for the tips and for your sharp ears, guys.
Btw I think we managed to put together a solid tribute to the great Ozzy.
Cheers.
Ok, still working on it. About the thin-vocal issue, I tried a few last things to better understand what’s going on. This time I tried to reinforce a few frequencies without relying too much on how it sounds in the DAW, since it usually changes a lot once I upload it to Bandhug — probably some kind of compression happening.
I also exported the audio as WAV instead of MP3, and switched the video export to AAC 320 kbps (it was 192 kbps before), trying to get something closer to what I actually hear in the DAW. I kept the previous mix as well so you can compare the two. The last one is the one without the volume boosted. Please, let me know what you think.
Hey guys, I finally got the video uploaded. I went with a double-tracked vocal to get closer to Ozzy’s vibe. Let me know if anything needs tweaking. Thanks a ton for the patience!
Finally redid the vocals, guys. I’d like to thank my family, my friends hahaha.
Hey guys, sorry for taking so long. I’m editing the video and syncing everything tonight — I’ll upload the file later today or tomorrow at the latest.
This collab was pretty challenging, but you guys absolutely crushed it.
