This track is off their very fine Hard Rock (not metal) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath LP from 1973.
(The video background on the drum track is from our personal collection. Filmed on Staten Island at the Farm Colony and also the historic Bayley Seton Hospital basement)

Ok, still working on it. About the thin-vocal issue, I tried a few last things to better understand what’s going on. This time I tried to reinforce a few frequencies without relying too much on how it sounds in the DAW, since it usually changes a lot once I upload it to Bandhug — probably some kind of compression happening.

I also exported the audio as WAV instead of MP3, and switched the video export to AAC 320 kbps (it was 192 kbps before), trying to get something closer to what I actually hear in the DAW. I kept the previous mix as well so you can compare the two. The last one is the one without the volume boosted. Please, let me know what you think.

You're on the right track AAC is lossless. Bandhug uses 128kbps from what I recall with Yves however when uploading a track you can select 256k (6:1 compression CD quality) which does help (320kbps is 4:1 compression) but this only matters when you are playing live into BH not if you have produced a track offline by which you have. I'll try and compare both tracks but you're on the right track. I also wonder if any phasing is occurring with your double track?

@Revup67: About the double-tracking, yes — there might be some phasing going on. They’re different takes, not with perfect alignment, but I think in some verses it can bring frequencies cancelled. I'll take another look on that.

I have to say that it sounds better Mattos, but there is still too much high frequency I think. It sounds better to my ears when I add a low pass filter at 5200 hz. You said that you used a double track. Could it be some kind of phase cancellation ?

@Claude : spot on was thinking the same. I also note in the WAV there's clipping which would detract from the sound. I've republished with the newer version but just need to figure out which is which in Studio Mode and remove the muted track. But damn what a friggin performance huh? PS when Mattos says Smokin and also Get High it's not as shreeking and the verse right after is also better.

Well, to really make sure any possible phasing is fixed, I realized I’ll have quite a bit of work here, because I didn’t separate the main and double buses — I did everything with volume automation. It’s going to take some work, but based on your feedback I really think the issue is the double track. Give me a little time, I’ll fix the clipping and reduce any chance of phasing

@mattos: thanks you may be right about BH. I just did a DAW mix and what I hear in DAW is not what's published even after a refresh. I'm going to put everything back in the center and leave as is. Mattos thanks for your efforts and if we can be of any help please let us know. We are all here to support each other.

Hey guys, I finally got the video uploaded. I went with a double-tracked vocal to get closer to Ozzy’s vibe. Let me know if anything needs tweaking. Thanks a ton for the patience!

Wow what a great performance ! Much improved Mattos timing and flow..just couldn't be any better. Only thing I can think of is (and this might be on my end I'm not sure)..the 'sound quality' only of the vocals seems narrow as if only the treble frequencies are working. Is anyone else experiencing the same? I'll try a refresh later and see if that helps.

@Revup67: Hey Anthony, thanks for the kind words and the feedback. I’m not sure if this is exactly what you meant, but I did feel the vocal losing some weight, especially when I jump into mixed voice. I checked to see if I had any high-pass on, but actually I didn’t use any EQ at all. I think I might try boosting a few frequencies and remixing it.

Hats off Mattos, I'm blowned away. So good performance and a killer look. I love it. I want to hear you louder. I don't know what cause the narrow sound but a low pass filter somewhere in the 4,2k could help and maybe aboost somwhere around 1,2k.

@mattos: I think you are on it! I agree also with HotPico below (or above). The vocals sound much too thin but yes a High Pass would be my first inspection which would eliminate any lower frequencies. It sounds like you are on this. Thank you for understanding and look forward to hearing more dynamics from your great voice!

Finally redid the vocals, guys. I’d like to thank my family, my friends hahaha.
Hey guys, sorry for taking so long. I’m editing the video and syncing everything tonight — I’ll upload the file later today or tomorrow at the latest.
This collab was pretty challenging, but you guys absolutely crushed it.

May Ozzy hear us boast in Heaven - great work to all..thanks Mattos..looking forward. Maybe we will get Bandhug video of the year? This was truly a tough one for everyone. I've never considered Sabbath a difficult band to replicate, I was dead wrong. They were truly great!
