"Hysteria" is a love song by the English glam metal band Def Leppard. It is the tenth track on their 1987 album of the same name and was released as the third single from that album in November 1987. On VH1 Storytellers: Def Leppard, lead singer Joe Elliott revealed that the song title came from drummer Rick Allen. The song peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100, but did not crack the year-end, despite the fact that some of the band's songs that did not crack the top 10 have made appearances in the year-end.

The song features a clean guitar melody and heavily multi-tracked vocals in its chorus. The "extreme" nature of producer Mutt Lange's recording methods is also exampled in the chorus, where the clean guitar chords were recorded one note at a time as opposed to the traditional method of strumming them, in effect "building" a chord by recording the notes that make them up.[3] The melody was also derived from Pink Floyd's "Goodbye Blue Sky". An acoustic rendition of the song was performed by Elliott and guitarist Phil Collen on the Hysteria edition of VH1's Classic Albums.

DavePguitar : what signal chain did you use to recreate the tone? It's spot on!

@Celticbattlepants: Made a patch on my Headrush gigboard. A Marshall Plexi, a couple of compressors, a graphic eq and chorus. I think there was a touch of tube screamer as well. That's the beauty with these processors. It's quite easy to get a close enough sound if you have an idea of what the original used.

@DavePguitar : Nice, it comes really close. I use Helix LT, it is pretty incredible what you can do with these units. For the Revelations collab, the patch I created has two inputs, one for the magnetic pickups and the other for the piezo pickups, both on my PRS P22, can do two separate guitar tracks in one go :)

@Celticbattlepants: I must admit I almost went for the Helix but thought it too much. I think I’d spend more time messing with rather than playing. I used to use a pod xt live and spent far too much tweaking. I bought the gig board mainly to do away with an ever growing pedal board. I have gigged with it a number of times but nowhere near a good tune amp and I love my H&K deluxe 40. 2 guitar tracks in one. Must try that. I’ve started to make my own guitars so messing with a few different pickup ideas could be on the next project

@DavePguitar : This is the guitar I have, PRS incorporated an LR Baggs piezo system into it: https://prsguitars.com/index.p....hp/news/story/introd

@Celticbattlepants: Very nice. would love one but there's no way i could convince my wife to let me spend that kind of money or even bring another guitar in the house. Wouldn't mind a Piezo, may well look to see if i can fit one to possibly a new build .

@guizuboa - I published a mix with our levels , backing track and bass slightly lower with the drums so the guitars etc can follow my drums thus helping it to get tight. hope thats ok with you pal
