Money for Nothing" is a song by the British rock band Dire Straits, the second track on their fifth studio album Brothers in Arms (1985). It was released as the album's second single on 28 June 1985 through Vertigo Records. The song's lyrics are written from the point of view of two working-class men watching music videos and commenting on what they see. The song features a guest appearance by Sting, who sings the signature falsetto introduction, background vocals and a backing chorus of "I want my MTV" set to the same notes as the chorus of the Police's hit "Don't Stand So Close To Me". The groundbreaking Steve Barron-directed music video, one of the first uses of computer-animated human characters, was the first to be aired on MTV Europe when the network launched on 1 August 1987.

Hi Stu It seems that my message is not reaching you on the chat screen. You said you were redoing the bass, but the reason was that the sound was distorted due to too much boosting. I went back to the original sound source and then boosted it moderately again. I think the E string sounds better now, what do you think?

Much better, Yoshi. Thx so much. How do I add more volume to my track without the distortion?

You need to check your waveform in your DAW. It should not be too little or too big. In the previous state where the E string was distorted, your waveform was completely too big. I think you should gradually boost the waveform so that it doesn't exceed the level. Can you understand my poor English?

It's a good idea to get the recording level right before recording so you don't have to boost it afterward.

@yoshikoba: Yes. For some reasom, i get very few green bars when I press record and strum a couple of notes. I'll have to play around with the audio interface when I get back home

stubass I've uploaded my first track for the Intro, let me know if you like it. I save a Mix, just volume change. Let me know if you like the track. I need to work on the Solo Synth on the intro and also the short Synth Bass track. I'll work on those this week.

Just an update, I have 80% of the intro ready, I'm just looking for the sound of the Solo synth that sounds like a flute or horn... once I get that, I will upload the track that will have probably 5 instruments but all video tracks combined in one track
