Hotel California" is the title track from the Eagles' album of the same name and was released as a single in February 1977. Writing credits for the song are shared by Don Felder (music), Don Henley, and Glenn Frey (lyrics). The Eagles' original recording of the song features Henley singing the lead vocals and concludes with an extended section of electric guitar interplay between Felder and Joe Walsh.

The song is considered the most famous recording by the band, and in 1998 its long guitar coda was voted the best guitar solo of all time by readers of Guitarist. The song was awarded the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1978. The lyrics of the song have been given various interpretations by fans and critics alike, the Eagles themselves describing the song as their "interpretation of the high life in Los Angeles". In the 2013 documentary History of the Eagles, Henley said that the song was about "a journey from innocence to experience... that's all..."

Since its release, "Hotel California" has been covered by a number of artists and has become a part of international popular culture. Julia Phillips proposed adapting the song into a film, but the members of the Eagles disliked the idea and it never came to fruition. Commercially, "Hotel California" reached the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top ten of several international charts.

UkuleleJay Bass track for you. You can either use my DAW mix or otherwise I suggest a sync correction of -0.168. Please let me know if you want any changes. Thanks for letting me work on this one. I have been wanting to learn it for a long time. Cheers, Daniel. :)

@UkuleleJay took a while but I worked in a way to get all of those lead fills and solos compact to keep from overloading the collab

Hi Jason, noticed all your recordings have the backing tracks playing on your recording. LOL. I was clickling around wonder why in the heck the backing track was not muting when I muted it ;-) Sounds great but can you redo without the backing track being recorded? if not no big deal. tnx!

@UkuleleJay : ah I was afraid that might be an issue. That seems to be the downside of uploading a track because it only plays that track when listening to the backing track only.In a nutshell for future notes it is probably best to not upload unless it is the final track!

@jasonchenry79: Not sure I follow. I download my tracks and then upload but I don't get the backing track. Maybe because the backing is only playing in my headphones. Looking forward to some more great stuff...just posting another R.E.M. I think you'll love ;=)
