From Wikipedia: The song was primarily written by vocalist Gregg Allman, who first began composing it at a rented cabin outside Macon, Georgia. He enlisted the help of roadie Robert Kim Payne to complete the song's lyrics. He and Payne broke into Capricorn Sound Studios to complete a demo of the song. While the original Allman Brothers release of the song did not chart, "Midnight Rider" was much more successful in cover versions. Gregg Allman's solo version of the song, released in 1973, was its biggest chart success.

Hi, did you already pick a guitar player. I would be interested in adding the electric guitar part and pedal steel
I guess slide guitar will be hard to find. I've put out a couple requests but no replies. I'll keep looking. Can anyone recommend someone for organ part in the meantime?
Oops, Sorry Strumbo. I meant to send that last comment addressed to you. See below.
Hi CC. Nice to bump into you again. A track for you. No worries if you don't want. I have a DAW saved but only because I moved Strumbo to minus decimal zero five nine. (-.059) ymmv We've done this before together how many times. lol. luv it, bro.
I'm in if you're interested.
