The song was written by Question Mark (Rudy Martinez) in 1962 in his manager's living room
"96 Tears" is a song recorded in Bay City, Michigan by the American garage rock band "? and the Mysterians" on October 1966.
At first, Question Mark had to insist that "96 Tears" be the A-side over "Midnight Hour".
It was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and on the RPM 100 in Canada. Billboard ranked the record as the #5 song for 1966.
It is ranked #213 on the Rolling Stone list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Well, thanks for the kind remarks, we moved this spring to another city after 45 years, so, no access to my equipment, setting up a music room is a real challenge for an old buzzer like me (73yo), working on it now. Will try and fix the O/S issues, I sincerely regret for any inconvenience. TTFN.
Great to see this garage rocker resurface. Their second LP "Action" had some good fuzz guitar with one minor hit "Girl, You Captivate Me". Their later non LP singles were super cool such as "Shake", "Love Me Baby" and the Tommy James sounding "Make You Mine". Thanks for this Collab..most enjoyable.
