Redemption Song-Bob Marley (Cover)Guitar (Completed)
"Redemption Song" is a song by Jamaican singer Bob Marley. It is the final track on Bob Marley and the Wailers' twelfth album, Uprising, produced by Chris Blackwell and released by Island Records.[2] The song is considered one of Marley's greatest works. Some key lyrics derived from a speech given by the Pan-Africanist orator Marcus Garvey titled "The Work That Has Been Done."[3]
At the time he wrote the song, circa 1979, Bob Marley had been diagnosed with the cancer in his toe that took his life a couple of years later. According to Rita Marley, "...he was already secretly in a lot of pain and dealt with his own mortality, a feature that is clearly apparent in the album, particularly in this song."
Unlike most of Bob Marley's other tracks, it is strictly a solo acoustic recording, consisting of his singing and playing an acoustic guitar, without accompaniment. The song is in the key of G major.
Love it! Very well done! Thank you mate!
Hi RJ - Okay I got a much better track in for you now. Hope that works for you! The guy on the backing track is doing a lot more picking than me so I sound a bit different from him but oh well.
Bob was a Revolutionary! Socio/Economic Justice. Hence the harshness and aggressiveness in his verbiage and mannerisms!!! That and the Jamaican Culture is very macho male dominant.
Nice vocals on this, RJ. You sound really good.
On a side note, I like Bob Marley's music a lot. The odd thing is his music sounds very peaceful, but in interviews he often sounded very angry. I don't understand this about him. Bob Marley, RIP
