Summer is here so let's play the mother of all feel good summertime rock 'n' roll songs!

Thin Lizzy's career was saved in the summer of 1976 when a couple DJs in Louisville, KY played this song incessantly until it went viral and became a big hit for the band, boosting sales of their album 'Jailbreak' and pumping up demand for tickets on their North American concert tour. It is one of the most straight-up joyfully exuberant rock 'n' roll songs of all time. To this day people of a certain age dance in the aisles when they play it at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Medical science has proven that it is physiologically impossible to play either of the parallel guitar leads with another person without cracking a grin.

This song reminds me of hanging out with my friends at Abalone Cove beach and meeting cute new girls from our town's other Junior High School the summer before we all became new High School classmates. It was a heady time. We were all reeling from powerful waves of new hormones and the possibilities were very exciting.

THANK YOU MIKE! Please excuse my tardy reply - real life took my eye off the ball for a month or so there. Your tracks sound so righteous! That exuberant rock 'n' roll joy comes through loud and clear. You are so good at your craft. I'm so glad you had time and interest to come out and play on this one. Rock 'n' roll!

Thank you Stephen! You rock. We now have a solid bottom end. You got that loping feel really well.

Wow Steve, the more I.listwn the more I really like your bass track. You nailed that jazzy walking bass feel! It occurs to me more and more as I work.with this song that it is really pretty unusual in a couple ways. It's faster and more co.plex than it seems at first. Thanks for taking it on!

I recorded the first guitar track playing both lead guitars as double stops. But it would be infinitely cooler to play it as two (or three?) parallel guitar parts, as the gods of rawk intended. I hope we can go there when I recruit another guitar player or two .
