White Christmas (Completed)
This collab is open to all. The Drifters' 1954 R&B version of Irving Berlin's 1942 song is our point of departure for a lively but gentle little Christmas song about snowfall and nostalgia.
The original song (Bing Crosby version) won an academy award in '42 and became the best selling single of all time. It is the most frequently recorded Christmas song of all time. The spectacular commercial success of "White Christmas" is also said to have launched whole new genres of overtly nostalgic songs and of secular Christmas songs - trends in commercial pop songwriting that continue unabated to this day.
It is a testament to the strength and vibrancy of America's cultural diversity and cultural "melting pot ' ethic that the most popular Christmas song of all time was a secular one written by a Jewish -American guy. American Christmas traditions of home and hearth have broad enduring appeal that transcends any particular definition of religious faith.
Brilliant Collab
OK, I don't understand why DayAnn wanted to have her vocal parts removed from every BH song she's ever been on (even the ones we all had fun with where there were no interpersonal issues with anyone AFAIK). But I guess I respect her right to do so.
So now there's a big hole in the last third of this song and we need another lively male or female vocalist to fill the gap. Anyone who want to take a shot at this one, just let me know. Rock on y'all!
