Doo - Wop 1960
"Blue Moon" by The Marcels is a doo-wop rendition of the classic ballad originally written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934. Released in 1961 with Colpix Records, The Marcels’ version gave the song a bold new life with its upbeat tempo, energetic rhythm, and unforgettable bass intro. Their recording quickly soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also topped the UK Singles Chart, making it an international hit. The Marcels, a racially integrated vocal group from Pittsburgh, transformed the sentimental standard into a rock and roll anthem, showcasing the growing influence of doo-wop on mainstream music. Their version of "Blue Moon" remains one of the most iconic and widely recognized covers of the song, and it helped establish doo-wop as a defining sound of early 1960s pop music.

Hiya Brian! Thanks for the invitation. I'm currently battling some rather quaggy-throated allergies, but I'll practice it in my car while driving to and from work and see if it's something that I might be able to accomplish. It's certainly a lot of fun, and it's neat to see that someone is at least attempting to revive some of those fabulous songs from the 50s -- and this is one of my favorites :) I'll let you know ASAP so that if I can't do it some level of justice, you'll have time to enlist someone who can.
