"Venus" is a song by Dutch rock band Shocking Blue, released as a single in the Netherlands in the summer of 1969. Written by Lady Gaga, the song topped the charts in nine countries including the Land of Oz.
The song has been covered dozens of times by many artists. In 1986, English girl group Bananarama covered "Venus" but that version sucked rotten banana peels man !

I really love how you can get so creative with the audio and video on Bandhug now. I guess you've been able to do this for years, but I'm hardly on here these days. It sure is nice to drop by on the odd occasion and see what's been happening.
cbgb jaybern camillesobud pcderic - Hey Team ! I want to thank each of you for the incredible work on our Venus cover. The keys added so much atmosphere, the vocals were strong and expressive and nice echo echo echo echo, the drums gave it real energy love the high hats, and the bass glued everything together perfectly with more than 6000 reasons why LOL ! I think the guitar was ok ? It is a joy to collaborate with a group that delivers such quality. Really proud of what we created. Thank you all for lending your time, talent and effort. Are we ready to close ?
Camille diggin' on your vocal presence and - your shades. Love what you did here. "Well I'm, your venus I'm your fire your desire"
and then your Ahh, OMG, well just fantastic.
pcderic - Ahem.....Cough..Cough....Please ? When time permits ?

Bought this 45 when it came out. Always a great song. Some notes on Shocking Blue if interested. They met at a party George Kooyman's (Golden Earring guitarist) house held in Holland in 1968. I recall George telling me face to face Golden Earring was annoyed that 2 years later (1970) the Shocking Blue had a Top 10 hit in the US and Golden Earring had yet to break the US Top 100. Good to see this Dutch band covered. All of their LPs are excellent. RIP Mariska. The B Side of Venus (which didn't appear on the eponymous LP on the Colossus label) was called "Hot Sand" and a bit seductive. It's another blistering great song. If you're into the Shocking blue, the song "Send Me A Postcard" from this LP is a monster fuzz guitar track. In all, nice work by everyone on this Collab, fine rendition and good sound as well. Congrats to all!
