"What Would Happen" is a song by American singer-songwriter Meredith Brooks. The song was released to American radio in 1997 from Brooks' second album, Blurring the Edges (1997). In this song, Brooks wonders what would happen if we didn't prize our fantasies so much. She said: "It's easy to fall in love with fantasies. But eventually that perfection disintegrates, and we begin to see that real people with real personalities can be so much greater than we ever imagined." This was the follow-up to Meredith Brooks' big hit "Bitch," and her only other song to chart.
