Cover of Light my Fire by The Doors. This is the short, radio-friendly version without solos.

"Light My Fire" is a song by the American rock band the Doors. Although it was principally written by the band's guitarist, Robby Krieger,[7] songwriting was credited to the entire band. Recognized as one of the earliest examples of psychedelic rock, it was recorded in August 1966 and released in January 1967 on their eponymous debut album. Due to its erotic lyrics and innovative structure, the track has come to be regarded as synonymous with the '60s psychedelic and sexual revolutions.

Although the album version was just over seven minutes long, it was widely requested for radio play, notably by (someone), and (someone) asked that a shorter version be released as a single. Despite the band's reluctance, (someone) edited a single version, cut down to under three minutes with nearly all the instrumental break removed for airplay on AM radio.

I wonder how long this one will take to complete? We seem to have a shortage of good guitarists here on Bandhug.

ftele Are you up for it? It's OK if you're not. I'd like to ask someone else if you prefer to focus on something else.

ftele Is that one you'd like to do? I bet you do Robbie Krieger real well. FYI, I chose to do the shortened version (w/o the long organ and guitar solos). I figured we all sort-of prefer to spend a limited amount of time on each collab?

@Bdajaysus: Nailed it note-for-note, from beginning to end. Outstanding!! Pure perfection.

@Bdajaysus: +1 on what @copycat said. We just can't throw a curve at you! Again, love that rim beat and then the transition to full drums which adds excitement. Bet it took a few listens to figure out when to do the snare repeats (how do you call that?) at the of the shortened solo?

Man, that is brilliant, how you're basically playing two different instruments at the same time. And I thought the drums took coordination. It must have taken a long time to learn that playing style on keys.

Thanks! I still need to work on it but yes, it's the muscle memory that eventually kicks in. That'll be why it may take me lots of time on some collabs...
