Hi Gentlemen. I published from Studio just now without alterations to levels, do if you have any suggestions please fire away or submit a DAW. I've been having recurring issues and all my time the Studio has been devoted to fixing those. Sorry for the delay in getting this published. I haven't even heard it all the way through yet but what I did hear sounds fantastic.
Thanks! And technical problems aren't funny - good luck with this. Btw: could you please remove or at least mute this track 2 (isolated keyboards) as this track IS actually in correct tuning (440 Hz) but sounds horrible together with the backing track and my organ track. I already downloaded it, so I'll be able to listen to it for "piano training".
Hi guys, I'm starting practicing - and have just discovered that the song is severely out of tune. I have to tune my keyboards up for 35 ct (A = 449 Hz) in order to fit in.
Hey Bob, lead and backup vocals submitted. Lead is not perfect. Will redo later. But please review. Thanks for having me on this collab.
Thanks, Rick. I'll check it out. I'm away until Thursday. I gave my laptop with me but no headphones and only a crappy in frame speaker, but I should be able to publish if that's what you want me to do. It's my old Win 7 laptop and it doesn't really like big collabs. It hangs up in DAW if they get too big. I'll give it a try though. Otherwise it'll have to wait until I get back.
I can tell you were really straining on this one, Rick. The back up leads sound pretty good, but being in that range through the whole song takes a toll. Why not try splitting it into three tracks? Also, I can hear your early start. I'll hold off on publishing for now.
Hi Jaugb, I would love to sing this, the main voice anyway. I am 65 and this was a favorite song when I was a little boy. If you have someone else in mind, no worries at all. :-)
Hello Byrdlander, thanks for your interest in singing this lovely song, please, go ahead. By the way, I'm 65 yo too, but this song wasn't known by me in Brazil when I was a kid, but it's never late. Regards!
Hi Stu I added two electric guitar track,,,. In addition to this, the backing track(original) uses an electric guitar to create the rhythm. Add tracks if needed
Hi Stu...dropped an acoustic g track for you to take a listen. Let me know what you think.
Sounds good but can you double? It's a bit tinny. Just curious if you listened to the track on Custom Backing Tracks
@stubass: Wow! Thought u were playing a 6 string. Why does it sound so tinny; or is it only me ?
In any case, I enjoy your videos. You always look like you're having a great time!
@stubass: Stu...I duplicated the track time stamped .66 and duplicated it with a second track time at .56. I EQ'd the .56 track to take out some of those "tiny" highs and added some reverb. I do think it has a better sound. There is a slight delay in the tracks with the timing change, so if you leave both it sounds really full to me. So you have 24 strings ! Anyway Im sure CC has some tricks as well. And for me BH is all about having some fun and be a better player. I can always redo, but taking off for a three week vacation to see my kids in Washington and maybe do a collab or two with my son "Drumrford"

Hey stubass - Thanks for inviting me for engineering. I noticed in the BT, at the beginning of the song, the bass cues all the other instruments to come in. Now that your bass track is recorded, I would like to delete the count-in track, and set the BT track back at zero, and realign the other tracks. This way, if someone chooses "BT Only" when they record, it will work as it should for them. If you're fine with that, I will go ahead with it. Thanks.
Many acoustic versions, but this has been my favorite, so thought I'd give it a try and see what happens (loaded in lyrics)
Darkblood Here are two BV tracks for your consideration. I hope you dig. I think they support joeykaraoke's BV track pretty well.
I adjusted sync and trimmed negative time. Added some reverb and a little bit of panning. They have compression and EQ from offline. I saved and applied a proposed mix for your consideration.
If you like the new mix then please publish. You might want to trim the negative time on Bdajaysus's rocking drum track.
Rock 'n' roll!
Hi Serena , Tracks in Studio.. I hope you like. Nice work Stephen and Bdajaysus. Thanks for the collab all!!!
@Serena Sable: Awesome! Hopefully Robert can cover up some of my BV mistakes. : )
joeykaraoke - Hey Joe, bass track for you. Not sure if it's right yet. Maybe I'll wait for Surfer's track and see how it fits. I also saved a mix for you to check out
@joeykaraoke : Aww Thanks Joe! Hey I adjusted Donny's sync as well - we are in the pocket now. Check my new mix please
@CyberBass: Thanks a lot Rob. Alway appreciate the help mixing. I will re-publish later today when I get home from work.
Daniel_Isaacs I got a track ready, if you don't like it I'll redo it. Man that crap is high!!!
@arejay222 great tracks you nailed it pretty good.....thank you for helping...soundiing good....published.... thanx again....D.L.I.
@Owenks Thank you very much for your excellent tracks....the brass makes this tune....thanx again....D.L.I.
@cbgb thanx it should be published now....thanx again for helping out....D.L.I.
Wowie! Two chords and the truth. I saw them play this live at Candlestick Park in 1981.
I’ve got a couple other songs in my queue, but I’ll see if I can get you a guitar track for this one. Rock ‘n’ roll!!!
Rough EP track uploaded, i appear to be lost at the beginning of the second verse so probably need to redo it, but you have an idea of what im doing anyway
Nice work, Tony. Would you mind redoing to address the hiccup in the second verse? I could potentially cut and paste from the 1st verse if you want to move on to something else. Would you also be able to do the intro and outro synth parts?
@Daniel Ramos (@dan00075): yes, will redo, I only noticed it after I was listening back with BT in DAW! Yes, should be able to do the synth parts
Drums sent Daniel any changes needed please let me know and thanks for the invite Really enjoyed that
Thanks John. Great work! I will work on the fade out in the next few days. I might merge both your video tracks also, if you don't mind?
@Bdajaysus: Hi John. It's done. I hope you are OK with the end product. I transitioned the video. Kept the original sync'ed audio. Lined everything up and faded out both audio and video. This resulted in a single audio/video track that I uploaded to BH. Then I trimmed off the negative sync on the new track to avoid audio/video sync issues. The new track is sync'ed exactly as the old tracks, but it shows up at zero in Studio/DAW after trimming. If you don't like it, please do let me know and I will move the original tracks back in (currently in DRAFT). Cheers!
@Daniel Ramos (@dan00075): Looks and sounds super to me Daniel, good job and makes sense would love to have that skill
I hope it's lined up ok Daniel it's the hi hat for verse 1 and 2 , nice bass line !!!
Thanks for the track and the feedback, John. Sounding good so far. Looking forward to the rest. I think it lines up fine! Cheers!
Excellent! Thanks John. I will record the bass in the next couple of days.
Thanks Frank. It's the first harpsichord song I do. Kinda cool. Well done yourself! Cool bluesy guitar riff eh? There's such good chemistry IMO.
@thx1138: Thanks for wishing me skill (as if there's no chance of that LOL). I just submitted a prelim track before dodo. I'll resubmit something tighter hopefully tomorrow. No need to publish.
YvesC - FYI, I'm not practicing/recording it like Ray M. would play it (left hand sounding like bass), to leave the room for the bass (which will definitely come out tighter with you playing it).
@YvesC: To be clear, I'm still playing lower keys as comping with the right hand without overtaking the bass line (with a thin harpsichord, as opposed to a split keyboard with a bass sound). Theoretically, the end mix should be fine but I'm ok to re-record after you if it doesn't work.
@YvesC: I actually decided to split the keyboard and keep playing the left hand harpsichord sound with a much lower volume than the right (and much less busy than the bass). Not playing something with the left is like a hockey player trying to skate w/o a stick. :-D
@YvesC thx1138 : Submitted my track for today. Let me know if there's something I need to adjust (playing/sounds). You may publish if you want.
Will publish a first attempt at mixing and wait for feedbacks from all involved.
@YvesC: Thanks! That's another fun one. Can't wait for your icing on the cake.
@YvesC: No need IMO. You'll be replacing this. It may not help having replaced the original BT when you align your bass later though.
Hi, 4 months, still no bass player! I could add it on my stack if you'd like :)
ellervis Hi, just noticed you raised your hand on this one but that you haven't signed-in to BH for a while. Frank and I did a few Doors collabs recently. I was wondering if you'll really do it or if you decided to stop using BH? I don't want to jump ahead of you if you'll do it soon enough?
SingingWomble - Oh yeah ! Excellent ! Thanks man ! The LIZARD KING has arrived !
@thx1138: ...I can do anything. ... how it sounds is another matter, lol ;oD
@backbone I'm so sorry I completely missed this comment! You are more than welcome to add a track! :)
thx1138 trying to record the bass track and all i am getting on my end (in the record studio) is 3 seconds then everything drops off....i will try again in a little while....thanx...D.L.I.
thx1138 invite accepted...sorry it took this long to accept as I got busy today and I just got logged in......I will do it in a couple hours.and thanx for the invitation....D.L.I.
@thx1138: Hi Frank here is a track for you I hope you like it , thanks for the invit .
ksam - Absolutely fantastic my friend ! You rock ! Spotlights are a nice touch too ! Sorry about the delay...I musta overlooked the notice...You shoulda knocked on my door and yelled 'Come On Let's Go !' and I woulda pubbed sooner ! Thanks a bunch man ! I just rewatched the movie after several years and felt like covering this. Honoured that you have joined me !
@thx1138: No problem Frank, forget it, it can happen to everyone, I'm glad you like it, thank you for publishing, I saw the film a few years ago, I loved it, very moving at the end when on the radio he announces the plane crash I still remember it I almost cried Lol

CyberBass - Now that your track is published, can we delete your drafts? I like to keep the Drafts folder empty of unused tracks.
Michmuch Thanks for accepting! Looking forward to it (no rush). I've removed the old thread to keep things tidy.
Bass track for you Mr pcderic - I saved a mix to balance the levels a bit too . So many changes - damn - is this the high G or the low G at this part? dammit! haha
Thank you! Sounds great and tight. It certainly fills a void. It's perfect. Published!
On my end, it's the chord progressions G-D-C and G-C-D in verses that I keep mixing up.
@Eric : Thank you Eric. Did you try my mix? Bass is full volume in the published mix. Way too loud imo
@CyberBass: Ah, just noticed the Saved Mix feature. My problem right now is that I just redid my piano/organ track so I think I cannot reuse your mix. I'll try to adjust the mix properly and republish and let you review in a jiffy...
@Eric : You are correct, the saved mixes also save the tracks themselves. I saved a new mix if you want to listen.
@CyberBass: We're working at the same time on the same stuff so I'll back-off a bit for now. I just published my own mix (not knowing you were doing it too) but don't hesitate to let me know if what's there isn't as good as your mix? I also removed the BT to remove that crutch for our listening. Might have to put it back in for the guitarist...
@Eric : Our own worst enemy eh? lol I thought it sounded good but you know best.
@Eric : The lowest level is the keys. The rest of the levels need to be dropped to balance it all out evenly.
@CyberBass: Correct. Especially with this song, there's some numbing effect going on. I think it's the singing that takes away my focus somehow (that's a compliment).
@CyberBass: I didn't even know that's where the band name came from. Just learned something.
@Eric : Lol - sorry didn't mean to mislead, I was just being stupid. I wanted running horses like Seger's album covers.
@Eric : Sorry about that - I tend to tweak the audio until it sounds right. But I have no ability to publish your collab. Anyway, my hands are off! The BT should prob stay until the last recording is in. Just lower the volume completely to remove it from the mix beforehand.
@CyberBass: Agreed, you wouldn't havenoticed it but I published after muting the BT, then I restored the BT volume for the next contrib w/o republishing. So I just wanted to hear how good it sounded w/o crutches. :-)
Sent in a track Eric , any changes needed do ask. Very impressive start @Eric and @CopyCat
Thanks so much, that's great! Very solid and pretty quick. Thanks for putting in the time to practice this one. It's not as common as other songs.... FYI, I trimmed your track by -0.090 to make it line up as closely as a could (looking in DAW in max. zoom). Let me know if you're OK with my operation. Your first hit is a snare and the song's is the bass drum so that threw me off a bit :-).
Listening to it, there's some timings that are off. I'm not sure yet where. I think it's the keys that need adjustment (or a retake)...
@Eric : yep happy with the changes , I know you can add your own count in which would have helped. CopyCat can add a count in if you ask and I can redo , it's never a problem. Bandhug count in is just default.
@Bdajaysus: I’ve been recording offline lately and using my own count-in with reaper. It’s just quicker to get started
@Eric : To add a count-in (would have to adjust all tracks afterward in DAW), add a track from YouTube - Artist: BandHug ,Song : Count In and choose from there
@CyberBass: That's a PITA! :-) I guess I prefer accepting imperfect beginnings and endings (to lots of UI refresh wait times). But for the endings (in future collabs), come to think of it, maybe I'll start including ending instructions from the get-go in the comments?
@Eric : haha - yes it is a pain for sure! I think we’re limited with endings on hug. Offline you can taper but not everyone works offline
@Eric : YvesC always edits his collabs with a count-in and count-out. They really sound polished
@Bdajaysus: Ok, Just to be clear, are you asking me to do this here or for our future collabs?
How does count out work? Asking cuz I normally prefer avoiding fade outs be finding a clean ending (although I haven't done enough of that on Hug)
@Eric : for the future Eric this sounds too good even with the few flaws I introduced deliberately (NOT)
The count in and out are embedded in backing track and it's a simple count of 4 for both. YvesC did it for one of my collabs I'll send you the link after I sort it on my pc as Collab is completed
@Bdajaysus: LOL, let's blame the green beer. Joking aside, I haven't heard any flaw but maybe it's because mine bother me more
Dang! You boys have got it going on here. I am inspired by your rocking good work. "I like it, like it, yes I do!"
I'll need to add another acoustic guitar part during the quiet section. It's different that what I am playing, and they have two acoustics in that section.
Byrdlander - Oh Man, that Byrdland. Such a sweet sound. I love that crunchy distortion on it. Another outstanding track from James, thank you! Can't wait to hear what else you have coming.
@CopyCat : That is my 59 Les Paul Standard re-issue. It's an awesome Les Paul. I don't think I've played the Byrdland on Bandhug, but I did ona couple of tunz on the Hub. Doing taxes tonight (I owe), so maybe some late night madness or tomorrow. Did I see that Dennis said uploades were allowed now?
Thanks for the comments on my tone. I used a 55 Fender tweed deluxe amp pedal from Universal Audio, which is the company that produces the Apollo interfaces I use. This system has Sharc processing in the interface, so that you can use plugins such as compression and effects in real time when you record, so I don't have to worry about applying that Bandhug even though I don't have access to the tools. It's a great system, and it's a long way from where I started on Bandhub when it was new.
@Byrdlander : Yes, I did read the contest rule change about uploads. That is great news, and that is also why I have decided to take advantage of it. I'm currently (as you may see) consolidating some tracks to reduce our total number of tracks in the collab. This helps pages load faster, and makes recording easier for everyone. Gotta get back to it now...
It's unfortunate we have to consolidate because of performance. It's like working with an old 4 track machine, having to bounce down tracks and never being able to change the mix within that bounce, or adding a bunch of work to do it, and then you still have the limitation of having to raise and lower an individual track within the "bounced" track, and it does reduce fidelity of each individual track. But then I'm an old fart who just wants it to work without all this fuss! Forgive me.
@Byrdlander : Haha, You're forgiven. I get what you're saying. Rest assured, these changes don't have to be permanent, because I'm not deleting any of the original tracks. Just gonna store them in Drafts. Mix changes will still be possible, no worries.
@CopyCat : Thanks for getting it! Yeah, for example, I might want to solo my two acoustic tracks to get tone and relative balance, same with my electrics. So anyway, we can work together if I need a change. Thanks, man.
@Byrdlander : In Drafts, your electric guitar track with your head cut out of the frame.. That was in there. Did you plan to use that one, or can we delete it? I prefer not to save anything in Drafts that we're not using in the collab. If it's scrap, lets delete it, OK?
ATTENTION EVERYONE INVOLVED HERE:
I have moved some tracks (temporarily) from Studio into Drafts, in order to lighten the load for future submitters. Please don't delete anything in Drafts for now. Those tracks will all be eventually returned to the Main Studio and republished with the other tracks. Doing this should shorten the waiting time for pages to load after recording. Thanks for reading.
New mix published with beautiful acoustic piano track added. Rough iPad mix.
Wow! You sound terrific @airedale. Thanks for stepping up on this one. Your playing takes this to a whole ‘nother level of bluesy goodness.. You rock!
Thank you thank you thank you RicBass! I'm away from my computer this weekend. Will have a listen on my phone - sometimes can successfully publish from phone. Home Sunday. I really appreciate your contribution!
Hi John I added the bass and orgun tracks for your review..Please let me know if you want any changes..Thanks for the invite..
Bdajaysus... i remember the Bandhub days. I was into Doyle a lot then, not sure i can pull itoff but i'll give it go.
Back in those days i was playing and singing a lot. No promises... lol
I'll be here in a few days Hal and CC this has Hal written all over it, we already covered this on Bandhub and it was Hal introduced me to Doyle Bramhall
CopyCat..no need to sit in the audience. you are welcome to take the vocals, but its Bdajaysus collab so Johns' call/
ftele - I don't want the vocals. I don't even know the song. Just want to hear you sing it. I can imagine, you probably sing as soulfully as you play.
marjolein junglejim Grant brijamcam MikeWalker - Remastered! My ears didn't like the old mix. I lowered my vocals, raised Marjolein, the bass and acoustic, etc - has a more balanced sound now. Great little collab! Thanks again all
MikeWalker marjolein brijamcam Grant junglejim - Happy New Year everyone! Just revisiting this one, balanced the mix a bit and republished. I think it is as done as it is going to get. Thank you all for your contributions to a very fun collab!
guitars and drums sounds pretty good!
Everyone sounds so so good here!! Awesome work guys :) I sent in a track, hope you like it.
No go on the smoke machine I tried to use during the guitar solo! Equipment problems…
